This man's sound is nothing short of AMAZING. Jesse Boykins III is one of the new kids on the block emanating timeless music that is the epitome of Soul. The 23 year old caught my eye after his first appearance on BET's "106th & Park" in early October. Since the premiere of his video for his single "Amorous," I was left with the feeling of wanting to hear more. Currently a part of their Music Matters project, JB3 is beginning to get the recognition that he truly deserves. However, his online following is tremendous and after being lost in hours of youtube videos, I was sold.
Having resided in Chicago, Jamaica, Miami and now in Brooklyn, NY., it's no surprise that JB3 has developed a widespread taste in music. From listening to artists like The Beatles & Pink Floyd to being mentored by Soul music great, Bilal, JB3 has developed a sound that has been missing from mainstream for what seems like an eternity. As an independent artist, he has been able to mold & shape his own sound, allowing fans to see who he TRULY is as an artist. From the U.S. to London, where JB3 filmed his "Amorous" video, fans have been able to bear witness to this raw talent.
The release of his LP "Dopamine" got him widespread attention with songs like "Itis", "Pantyhose", "Chanel" & "Tabloids". What started as a list of song titles turned into an album of longevity & unchartered creativity. His songs reak of euphoria & paint vivid pictures - Most of them just make me want to be in love <3 Take a listen & decide for yourself.
